NEWS AND NOTES:
The regular season is ending this Friday with the District Playoffs beginning next Monday. I have decided to wait until after the district playoffs to give my latest rankings, which will be around the end of the month. I will continue to rank players during the AAU season as their may be some surprises and "Scottie Pippin" like breakouts during this time. I will also rank AAU teams (ages 15 through 17) in which I'm sure is going to generate some heated discussions.
I'm looking for a young man or woman who is interested in a career in journalism to travel with us (Mississippi Ballers) this year. They will be responsible for reporting on not just our team, but other teams as well. They can also have inside access to locker rooms, practices, behind the bench, the whole nine yards. You must be proficient in writing skills, and have a personable personality in order to "get the scoop". If you are interested, you can contact me by email, thutchi@hotmail.com
If you are a senior, or JUCO player interested in playing college ball, the Senior Showcase is the place for you! It will be held March 16, 2008 in Jackson MS at a site to be determined. I have commitments from several players already, and they are ready to bring their "A" game. More information will be given shortly.
Next week, I will have photos and hopefully video of the 5A and 4A district playoffs. I will do an indepth column of both playoffs and tell who stepped up and who stepped off.
