Class of 2009:
1. Shaunessy Smith, 6'7 Wing from Noxubee County - Consensus Player of the Year for Mississippi but only by a slim margin. Several underclassmen can lay claim to that title as well, but Shaunessy has improved tremendously since last year. He has more range on his jumper, and he got a little "dog" in him this year. The team is suffering a down year (13-10) but it was not his fault. Will be a excellent player in the SEC (signed with MS State).
2. Jeremy Adams, 6'3 Guard from Madison Central - You could almost say Jeremy came out of nowhere to receiving LOADS of attention from D1 schools this year. An excellent shooter who can create off the dribble and has range up to 20 feet and beyond. Very strong as told to me by players who competed against him. Played against stiff competition during AAU season with the Birmingham Storm. Uncommitted.
3. Isiaah Canaan, 6'1 Guard from Biloxi High - Cat quick, very nice jump shooter, penetrator, dish man, everything you could want in a point guard. Above all, very humble young man. Knows he has to improve and is willing to put the work in. (signed with Murray State)
4. Julysses Noble, 6'1 Guard from Callaway High - can play the 1 or the 2 with equal skills. Outstanding shooter, has ability to take over game with shooting or being a decoy, odd as that sounds. Teams are so fixated on "Ju" that it allows other talented players to make an impact. Great range on his shot, extending beyond 25 ft at times. Great team player, which his coach would have no other way. Uncommitted.
5. Billy Hamilton, 5-11 Guard from Taylorsville High - best scorer in entire class. Has had several 40+ scoring feats this year, with a variety of skills using quickness and leaping ability to get to the rim at will. Decent shooter but not his best attribute. Will play baseball for MS State next year.
Other seniors to watch: Emory Kelly, 6'6 forward from Provine High, Trey Felder, 6'3 Guard from Murrah High, Jeff Stubbs, 6'2 Combo Guard from Ridgeland High, Jontavious Sutton, 6'7 forward from Yazoo City and Keith Searcy, 6'3 Guard from Oxford.
