An overtime loss to the Jackson Panthers 16u put the Bluechip Ballers into the Gold Bracket.  However the Ballers did not allow the loss to defer them, as they reeled off 5 straight wins to take home the Gold Bracket 1st place trophy.
The Ballers faced off against the Texas Gladiators in the Championship Gold Bracket game and came away with a 65-47 victory.  The Ballers were led by Istrouma High’s Ronald McGhee’s 22 points and 7 rebounds and Glen Oaks’ Brandon Johnson’s 14 points and 4 steals.  After going 5-1 in this tourney the Ballers now enter the state tournament with a record of 20-4.  In the Platinum Bracket HP Elite took the Championship game over the Jackson Panthers behind the slashing of Brother Martin’s Pat Swilling and the shooting of Christian Life’s Langston Galloway.  Kaleb Knight of CLA also provided solid post defense as he swatted away several shots during the game and tournament.  HP finished with a 4-1 record with their only loss coming in pool play at the hands of the Texas Gladiators.
Both of these LA teams were in the toughest pools as all three teams in each pool faced off in the three championship games.  With there being 11 pools of 3 this was an outstanding accomplishment by both the Ballers and HP.  Good luck to both in the State Tournament this weekend in New Iberia.

15U Governor’s Games
The 15U Bayou Flames took the Governor’s Games with ease as they ran through the competition on their way to a 5-0 finish.  Glen Oaks’ Brian Williams averaged 18 points a game and GO’s Trey Drye provided several crowd pleasing dunks.  Through 20 games these two young men now have 42 dunks between them.  Southern Lab’s Michael Harrell and Nico Talbert also provided outside shooting to complement the two star post players.  The Flames beat Team LA by a score of 67-29 in the championship game.  Next up they will participate in the 16u state tournament.
