The ROUX: Game of the Week
Results for the Game of the Week:

St. Thomas Aquinas         72
Christian Life Academy   59

A packed house at CLA witnessed the crowning of a new #1 on the Roux’s top ten.  The Crusaders came out of the gate strong with a 10-5 first quarter lead; however the Falcons turned their intensity up a notch and never looked back.  The Falcons’ tenacious defense and quick penetrating offense caught the Crusader players off guard and helped the Falcons reach leads of 20+ points during the game.  A late run led by #1 in c/o 2010 Langston Galloway helped close the gap to 10 points but that was as close as the Crusaders could get, as Thad Showers and the Falcons held on to win by 13.  Showers provided 23 points for the Falcons and c/o 2009 #2 Raymone Andrews led Coach Errol Gauff’s high intensity defense which wrecked havoc on the Crusaders all night.
Next week’s Game of the Week:
The Game of the Week will be determined once the seeding for the playoffs has been decided.

Player of the Week:
Thad Showers (G) St. Thomas Aquinas

The Roux’s #5 player in 2008 led his team to the upset of the #1 team in the Roux’s top ten.  Showers scored 23 points in the tune up game for the playoffs, and he also played solid defense on the perimeter as CLA’s guards found it tough to penetrate.  Showers scored most of his points slashing to the goal and off outlet passes from turnovers and rebounds due to the intense defense.  Congratulations to Mr. Showers and his Falcons on the win.

Honorable Mention:

Brian Williams (F) Glen Oaks- Scored 24 points to led Glen Oaks to a District 6-4A win over rival Istrouma and the district championship.

Jeremy Ferguson (G) Port Allen- For the second week in a row, Jeremy scores 20+ points in his team’s two games leading the Pelicans to an undefeated district championship.
