Maurice was recruited well after high school but initially took an offer to Lincoln Trail CC in Illinois.  He transferred back home before playing a game there, but in doing so arrived in a program without any bigs which created a difficult season for the talented PG.  Maurice is super fast and his handle is comparable to a TJ Ford which is really who he brings to mind when on the court.  With the ability to breakdown any defender off the dribble, stop and pop or pull up deep from behind the arc, his size is easily forgotten with his offensive skill set.  Defensively he is an aggressive defender who anticipates well and plays great on the ball defense.  For the season he finished ranked as the 5th best free throw shooter in the conference, he was the only freshmen to finish in the top ten in assist for conference play.  Hampered by a team that did not play an uptempo game, Maurice will probably be the breakout player in the PCC if the team philosophy has changed.  If the team philosophy does not change then his game will have to be witnessed firsthand to insure his recruitment is where it should be at the mid major level.
