Forwards and Centers The final ranking of players from the CCB Camp consists of a group of underrated big fellas. In a camp setting very often the bigs are overlooked due to guard play and this was pretty much the case in the camp. However, my number one guy is very deserving of attention here and once you watch his video you will see how the people in the ‘know’ sometimes are not really in the ‘know’. Latavious Williams 6-8 c/o 08 (left), locks down the number one spot for the bigs by showing more than just five man skills. Rounding out the list are a couple of young guys who should begin to garner a lot of attention from D-1 and schools at all levels. Instead of splitting the list of Forwards and Centers I have decided to list both on this list from one to ten. |

1.Latavious WIlliams Click to watch Starkville H.S. (MS) |
6-8/08 |
I thought it would take a year for LW to get serious about the game and develop more of an offensive repertoire. It hasn’t. From the August 5th session to the September 16th session the big fella from Starkville must have hit the gym on a daily basis. He rebounded, hit threes put the ball on the floor, played the passing lanes, blocked shots, changed shots and was an all around beast. I now think the kid has become a high major guy. See for yourself. |

6-8/08 |
To put Malcolm at number 2 was difficult, but it does two things, breaks the string of number ones by Genesis and tells Malcolm that he has to develop a stronger handle to take Latavious’ spot. Malcolm is more explosive than LW and has a longer wing span but LW’s overall skill set is slightly better due to LW’s ability to step out to the perimeter and actually play from the two to the five in high school. Malcolm is a unique talent and can knock down the perimeter shot but his handle needs more development. Consider this 1 and 1A |

Genesis One (MS) |
6-11/08 |
Chano has a big time body and can become a big time player. He has the size and the agility to develop into a high major guy who could be a Shelden Williams type center. He rebounds very well, but was unable to really put together a strong offensive showing in the camp. But there is something there that makes him great. |

Genesis One (MS) |
6-8/08 |
Incredible athleticism and very quick feet, make this kid a high major schools dream four. He has very long arms and soft hands. He showed the skill to go around slower defenders and changes shots as well as blocks them. |

Genesis One (MS) |
6-10/07 |
Claude actually had a better camp than Chano and Trevor, but I still think he has to drop 10-15lbs to really become a big time player. But he has soft hands and showed the ability to get up and down the floor. He also showed a bit of athleticism in blocking shots. What level is he? I think mid major based on size alone and the fact that he does have decent hands, but he is going to have to drop some weight. |
|
Osceola H.S. (Ark) |
6-6/09 |
The youngest guy on the list may have the most potential. He has the best post moves on this list. He uses traditional post moves, drop step, up and under, nice ball fakes with power dribbles and he faces up well. But he has to add muscle and increase his explosiveness. |
|
7. John Harris Starkville H.S. (MS) |
6-4/08 |
The smallest guy on this list John has mid major athleticism and can flat out hop, but he has a problem. He is going to have to develop guard skills. He has Charles Barkley size and I think a D-1 would take a chance on him, if he can handle the ball better, create his own shot and show the ability to play the 2 with consistency. |
|
Bolton H.S. (TN) |
6-7/08 |
This kid has good defensive instincts and a fast developing offensive game. If he could get a trainer who works specifically with post players then I think Nick will become a D-1 guy. If he spends too much time playing AAU then he may not develop to his potential. He shows flashes that if they were more consistent, would make him one of the break out players in the state next year. But right now he is a bit too inconsistent. I would love to see him develop a jump hook, with his length this shot would be unstoppable. |

Wynne H.S. (Ark) |
6-5/08 |
A very disciplined player who is true post player. I don’t think he will be a D-1 guy but as far as skill, like Brandon Jones, he has a nice back to the basket game and he plays hard from end to end. I think he will be an All American at the NAIA level. But if he can add strength, he is a young 11th grader, he may become an undersized low major guy. I really like his work ethic and skill. He is also a great student. |

10. Kenny Jackson Natchez (MS) |
6-6/09 |
Kenny has to become more aggressive and take the game. He lets the game come to him but this is not a case where this is a good thing. He has a great midrange game but disappears too much during the flow of it. While it is good that you get the rebound and start the outlet, it would be even better if you sprinted down the floor to get your money for being the workhorse. He is talented and should be on a lot of mid major schools list right now. |
