December 8th 2006 Baldwyn vs H.W. Byers Although many try and very few accomplish it, every high school in the country fights to remain undefeated. Baldwyn H.S. entered into tonight’s contest as one of the few in the state of Mississippi yet to taste defeat. Led by CCB Camper PG Richard Craven, the Bearcats looked to extend their streak in the Lion’s Den.

Home Court Advantage
In the second half though, the Lions switched gears, but instead of popping clutches they popped long range tres over the outstretched arms of the Bearcats. In the third quarter Justin Owens c/o 08 (14pts) knocked down 3 three’s in a row to get the crowd crunk! But it was sparkplug Fred Jones soph (14pts), who stole balls playing the passing lanes and brought the energy that finally put the mighty Bearcats to rest with 8 of his 14pts in the final quarter. The Final Score as the Baldwyn Bearcats fell from the ranks of the undefeated, Lions 67-Bearcats 55. |

The Lion’s Den home of the H.W. Byers would strike fear into the heart of Daniel and anyone else who enters. The small compact gym was filled with fans on a sub 30 Friday night cheering on their Lions to take down the undefeated Bearcats. Early on it appeared that the host Lions had the Bearcats number as they jumped out to a 11-5 run to open the game. c/o 08 guard Nick Tate (13pts) had his squad firing like a sparkplug in a Corvette as the Lions forced the Bearcats into multiple turnovers. Until Richard Craven (11pts, 8 assists) began to slice up the full court pressure and dish to soph Dorian Berry (12pts) and c/o 07 Jamieon Crump (game high 16pts), to take the lead into the half 49-47. |
