The Memphis Central Warriors Boys upset the West Memphis Blue Devils in the final game of the evening at the Lehr Arena, even with the 4-time All-American, former Blue Devil Keith Lee there.

The Warriors came out on fire, going up 5-0 in the first two minutes of the game until Barry Rossell hit two three-pointers to help the Blue Devils get the early lead but Tyler Stone went to work inside, getting the Warriors within two at the end of the first quarter, Devils 14-Warriors 12. In the second quarter, Chris Sledge, a senior guard, hit seven unanswered points to give the Warriors back the lead. With 2:15 left in the 2nd, Derrick Burns hit 8 points to keep the Blue Devils in the game. At half-time, the game was tied at 32. Central had a good third quarter as they jumped on West Memphis and went up by eight points while Anthony Borden had a monstrous dunk to cut the lead to 6 at the break of the 3rd. Both teams went point for point until the Blue Devils tied the game 44 all. With 8.3 seconds to go, Central fouled Tarvin Gaines with the score 52-51 and Gaines made both of the free throws and the score was 53-52 with the Devils up by 1. Coach Applewhite, the head coach of the Warriors, immediately called a time-out and called for Chris Sledge. As Central threw the ball in, it was freshman point guard, Blake Johnson, who was caught streaking down the court and as time was running out, he threw up a three-pointer and as it went over the rim, a wide open Chris Sledge rebounded the ball and scored it, uncontested, as the buzzer sounded to defeat the Blue Devils on their home court.

Coach Bray said that this team will probably be the most physical team that they'll ever play and Memphis Central proved that they were the most physical. It was a heart-breaking loss for the Blue Devils, which are now 6-2.
