Arkansas Basketball 6A East Conference
In the First Half of the season it was all 2008 Arkansas Basketball State Champs Little Rock (Hall) but on Friday the second half of the season was a little more Jacksonville's way it was a sixteen points victory and the Red Devils handed the Warriors their first loss of the year. Both of them will be playing West Memphis Blue Devils in West Memphis, Jacksonville and Little Rock Hall are tied for the first place in the 6A East.
This victory for the Red Devils avenged a 3 point loss at Jacksonville earlier in the season by dismantling the Little Rock Hall.
In Jonesboro, the Hurricanes beat the Marion Patriots,Only one team was able to Achieve what it sought to do. Jonesboro boys won a big confenance game over Marion. The Canes 13 - 8, 3 - 5 in the 6A East jumped ahead and did not looked back. Marion 11-11 2-6 6A East could not buy a bucket. Marion missed four shots and committed five turnovers in its first nine possessions. Terrance Walker scored a team high 16 points for Jonesboro.

6A East Girls West Memphis Cam Jeffries the 6'3 center come off the bench to hit 16 points to lead the Lady Devils over the Lady Lions 54-47 to put the Blue Devils tied with Parkview for first place. Marion's physical nature and athleticism bothered the Lady Canes, a good man -to man defense forced 20 turnovers at one point and the presence of 6'3 Jasmine Trotter kept the Jonesboro Team off guard on both ends of the floor. West Memphis Blue Devils vs. Searcy Lions
The Blue Devils hosted Searcy at the Lehr Arena on Friday night.
In the first game of the night, the Blue Devils' B-Boys blowed out the Lions 51-36. Sophomore Arthur Jackson (pictured) lead the Blue Devils with 10 points, including one monster dunk.
In the Girls game, the Lady Lions were too much for the Lady Devils. The loss broke West Memphis' 13-game conference winning streak. Searcy (10-4, 1-0) made 25 of 31 free throws including 11 of 12 in the fourth. This is the second loss at home for the Devils in their new home. The Lady Devils (8-5, 0-1) jumped on the Lions early, ending the quarter up by one, 12-11. In the 2nd, the Lady Lions' Lauren Harrison was on fire scoring 12 of her 20 points and the score at halftime, 28-19. Crystal Riley tried to keep the Devils in the game, hitting 5 3-pointers in the next half but was not enough to put her team ahead as Searcy upset the Lady Devils 63-53. Kristen Celsor (pictured) also hit 10 out of 11 free throws and 18 points to help lead the Lady Lions to a 6A-East Victory. Elliott Scarbrough added 12 points for the Lions. For the Devils, Crystal Riley ended with 17 points, Simone Young added 12 points and Cambriel Jefferies had 13.
6'5 Senior Tarvin Gaines (pictured) helped lead the Blue Devils to their first conference victory of the season with 18 points. The Searcy Lions were never into the game. The Devils hit the floor on fire, ending the quarter up by 11, 18-7. After the third quarter, the Mercy Rule was in effect and the Devils would win big. Anthony Borden and Derick Burns both finished with 10 points. The Devils will be taking on the Joneboro Hurricane this Tuesday.
Lucas Nutt (pictured) and the Jonesboro Hurricanes captured the victory and overpowered Nettleton 72-55. The Hurricanes were dominant on their way to a second NEA title in three seasons. The top seeded Hurricanes mauled Nettleton on the boards and grabbed about 20 offensive rebounds and forced the Raiders to perimeter jumpers. Terrance Walker lead the Hurricanes with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Jonah Calamese added 14 points and Roy Marshall scored 12. Nettleton trailed 12-9 going into the second quarter but Jonesboro finished the half on a 12-3 run and quickly put away the Raiders.The Jonesboro Hurricanes are now preparing for Conference play coming in January '09.
