Mississippi Elite Camp
Coach Ted Hutchins organized an incredible event which could lead to the national recognition of several standout players in every class.  The Mississippi Elite Camp started out slow and developed into an incredible showcase that ended in a blazing overtime game that left fans and players wanting to continue the games past the deadline.

After sitting for several hours following the camp, Camp Coordinator Ted Hutchins and I looked at the scores of the games and thought about each player before deciding to write an article or make suggestions for all tournament or as we decided CCB All Star Selections.

There will be a thorough write up of each player on their profile page with video coming soon.  But listed below will be players who broke out and became "made" men.
CCB All Star Selections
Rashad Perkins 6-5 Starkville H.S. c/o 2010 (pictured right)
Is the best young forward prospect in the state of Mississippi.  Sometimes it may hurt a player to heap accolades on them this soon before they play their first varsity game in Mississippi but the only thing lacking in this kids game is a go to move off the dribble.  In the mold of Bill Walker this 15 year old sports at least a 45 inch vertical leap.  His elevation on his jump shot is great, he rebounds very well and when he gets set in the post he is virtually unstoppable.  In the open floor kid flashes pro potential all day.  Once he develops his handle and learns to utilize his natural ability with more basketball savvy Mississippi will forget Renardo Sidney left town.
Rashad Perkins
Isaiah Canaan 5-11 Biloxi H.S. c/o 2009 (pictured left)
For some reason kids named Isaiah seem to be chosen to play PG.  The class of 2009 may not have a better player at the PG spot in the Southeast Region.  His blend of savvy and a varied offensive repertoire make him a lead candidate to be recruited by mid to high majors throughout the country.  He has the floater, good court vision, that will continue to develop through his junior year, and the ability to lock down his defender.
Montell Walters 6-4 Meridian H.S. c/o 2010
Since the summer the extra gym time has paid off for this agile two guard.  He has extended his range comfortably beyond the arc and was adept at playing the passing lanes and finishing around the basket with the dunk.
Isaiah Canaan
Jared Hudnall 6-1 Biloxi H.S. c/o 2008
In a day when shooters are at a premium Jared will bring in a ton of coaches simply because he has the mechanics and range that D-1 coaches looking for a zone breaker covet.  He can also run the PG in limited minutes, but as a shooter there may not be a better prospect in this class.  Knocked down 16 threes in 3 games at around a 60 percent rate.
Honorable Mentions
As always all of these players will have profiles on the class lists on the home page.  The next group of guys could have easily been selected All Star but did not have as consistent a camp as the others.  None the less they are very talented players who should be highly regarded this year:
John Harris 6-3 Combo c/ 2008 Starkville H.S.  John has developed his handle and his play as a big PG in the camp was impressive.  He still has the above the rim game but his all around savvy makes him a legitimate mid major 1/2.
Micah McNally 6-5 Long Beach H.S. c/o 2008 Micah was a force on the boards and his hustle and ability to score on broken plays and as an interior player was impressive.
Jeverik Nelson 6-7 Callaway H.S. 2010 Jeverik, Rashad, Demarcus, Marshun and Montell make the class of 2010 in Mississippi one of the top classes in the country.  A legitimate 2 guard prospect Jeverick is a high major guy if he can also concentrate on building his inside skill, his perimeter game is good but he needs some footwork to improve accuracy.
Jeff Stubbs Ridgeland H.S. 6-2 c/o 2009 Explosive!  A long, athletic PG who reminds you of a Monta Ellis type guard.  As he develops his decision making he will gain national attention as well.
Deshun Carter 6-5 Meridian H.S. c/o 2009 Once he becomes an unselfish player he will change the game with his athleticism and toughness.  He can board with bigger players and his shot although unorthodox is consistent in the midrange.
